Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone! Hopefully everyone is having a happy holiday so far.All of the family came over and we piled all of the gifts under the Christmas tree(it was so pretty, but I'll post pictures of that later.) Any way, all last night while i was watching "Star Trek" and :"Its a wonderful life", in the back of my head i was thinking about what i wanted o wear on this historic day. I wanted something Christmas like , but not over the top(no holiday sweaters for me!) Anyway, i went through about like 4 or 5 outfits until i found one acceptable for this holiday spirit.

After hours of debating i went with a black pleated mini skirt from H&M and a green long sleeve shirt from American Eagle along with some black tights and boots from payless.

I figured the best way to dress for the holidays was to pick ONE traditional holiday color and pair with a neutral skirt or nice-ish pair of pants, comfy yet practical and very fashionable.

Never underestimate the power of a gift card

OK, so i got a camera for my birthday back in november and i was thrilled as you can image, i also got a book called The Sartorialist, about this photographer who travled all around the world taking pictures of random strangers outfits. Fasinating, absuloutly fasinating......the collections of pictures were all so unique and different from one another, sorta like snowflakes:) Anyway, his whole project got me thinking about doing something like that as well, however, am not a grown photographer who is willing to approuch strangers so freely, so for now i will start with my own style. My plan is to keep a photo diary if you will, just to see how my fashion style evolves over time, and see where it takes me.


This particular outfit came to me like a wave of joy and happiness(wow that was cheesy) on the morning of my 14th birthday. I am ubber pleased with this outfit and hopefully will be able to duplicate it in the future.

Dressing Your Body Type

An ongoing issue for teenagers these days is how to dress your particular body type. Even though what is portrayed on TV are the stick thin barbie models, most American teens are actually a size 4-8, not a zero and not a double zero. Personally, i think everyone deserves to have good style, even if your body type isn't directly off the rack.
Remember, if something doesn't fit as soon as you put it on, its not the end, you can have things altered to make them shorter longer wider or thinner. If you notice that the clothes you try on tend to be a bit to small, try a specialty clothing store that sells clothes especially for your particular size. Same thing for people that are shorter or thinner than average.

Having Style on a Budget

 Lately, the topic of everyone's conversation is how to have style, while still not spending a fortune. We all know that in these trying times, even the smallest of bargains is a victory over the regular priced clothing hanging in the stores. Every time we shop, it's a battle to stay within the budget due to the taunts of the chanel bags and designer gowns thats follow us where ever we go. What most people don't realize is that it is very possible to be stylish while still having money in your pocket. 

     Look in thrift stores for cool vintage styles is a good way to save money and start a new trend. When people think of thrift store, they think of old, gross, unwanted, but that is almost never the case. There are great deals at thrift stores and are surprisingly up-to-date style wise. Sometimes, they even have designer things for a low, low discount price. 

    Shop for items you can't where right now, like things out of season. I guarantee that a heavy winter coat will be cheaper in August then it would be in December. If you already have the clothing you need you can have more money to buy the clothing you want. 

    Recycle your clothes buy selling your old ones to someone else who can fit them. Reverse that concept by receiving old clothes of someone other that you as well. That way you have more money to spend on clothes in the stores, and have also cleaned out your closet.

First Day of School Look

Having style is important. It shows off your personality, and what you're made of. That's why having the perfect back-to-school outfit is so important. There are several different looks someone can do to get their personal style point across. 

If you're looking for short and simple, start with classic pieces that 

accent your best features. Get a sporty polo or a clean,

white button down to 

pair with a sweet mini skirt. Put 

that on with a pair of nine west ballet flats and some statement jewlery and you have yourself an outfit with simplistic character.

   If you want an outfit that gives off a chic impression go for a slightly darker color pallette and some more complex pieces.

Give layering a try, go with a pair of grey skinny jeans with

a cami and a short sleeve sweater. When it gets cooler, couple with a blue satin trench coat. Put that combo with a pair of shinny blue patent leather shoes (sold at Marshalls) and you will be making a statement and be the talk of all your friends.

So far, all the clothes shown are basic things every american teenage girl should have in her wardrobe. But if none of these outfits are exactly your cup of tea, try something that is

really funky and will let you stand out from the crowd.

  Here is a good tip to creating a wild and crazy outfit. Mixing...mix your colors, patterns, shapes and textures in your outfit for something really striking. 

Try an A-line, black-and-white poka dot skirt. Pair with a V neck yellow T-shirt and black vest. Throw on a pair of converse and your ready for your first day of school. Choose any of these outfits to wear and you will be the new fashion guru throughout the school!

    

Fashion in Stages

When I think back  to 6th grade I am reminded of all the cartoon character T-shirts, quirky necklaces, and baggy skinny jeans. (I know-oxymoron) Even though my sense of style was not quite evolved at that point, I would like to think that is has improved more than I could hope. Now, I live for all fashion magazines made, from Seventeen to Vogue.

    The purpose of this blog is to not only help document the progress and evolution of fashion (personally and generally) but also to get a feel for the fashion magazine world. The idea struck me while watching the best movie of all times, "The Devil Wears Prada." As I watched Anne Hathaway battle her way through the challenges of fashion, I realized that that is exactly what I want to do. So here I go, my attempt at a fashion blog to start off my career.
